Corporate wearables price increases

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

To date, our corporate wearables prices have remained pretty constant over the last 18-24 months, despite the rising cost of conducting business. Fuel costs have had the greatest impact on our cost of doing business as they have across all wearables distributors.

In some sectors of our business our suppliers are adding a $5-15 per shipment surcharge. This is in addition to shipping fees. While some distributors can no longer afford to eat these costs, and they are now being forced to raise their prices, we’re still measuring the impact and ROI of various promotions. Increasingly, competitors are being forced to pass along increases as high as 15% to end-users. Fortunately, since we are both manufacturer and distributor, we have a more control than most promotional products companies. However, we are more carefully watching these estimates vs bllling to ensure that they are passed on.

The issue for companies like ours that provide services like embroidery is that we have to pay for shipping multiple times, depending on the brand and volume ordered.
For our own products, we pay to bring product in to the USA. Then we ship to the local embroiderer for those who do not advance order, then back to us for later fulfillment or direct out to the customer. Some brands we sell do not have embroidery on the premises. So there is a cost to send the product to the embroiderer, then to us (small orders are batched), then to the customer.

The smaller promotional products companies are the most likely to be hurt. We’ve already heard from suppliers who have closed huge numbers of reseller accounts because their business volume was low. The cost of fulfilling orders is high so by eliminating small accounts, operational costs can be trimmed.

CEOgolfshop.com is a valued member of the wearables resellers industry. We continue to have manufacturers request we sell their products to our B2B customers. Despite economic issues in the country, our company continues to grow and we will continue to specialize in the executive or luxury brand niche market.

LPGA English rule backlash

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

The Asian American Justice Center (AAJC) is urging LPGA sponsors to withdraw support of the Tour until the English proficiency policy is retracted. As previously reported, LPGA will require all players to be proficient in English starting in 2009 and those who cannot pass an oral evaluation of English skills face suspension from the Tour. There are currently 121 international players from 26 countries on the LPGA Tour.

“This policy is tantamount to national origin discrimination, which is prohibited under Civil Rights Act,” said Vincent A. Eng, deputy director of AAJC. “The policy is an affront to our American principles of diversity and equality. It is even more unconscionable that the LPGA is devolving to past divisive and exclusionary practices of their sport following the successful closing of the unifying Olympic Games.”

“There is already a strong endorsement incentive for the players to learn English to increase their global marketability,” said Tuyet G. Duong, senior staff attorney at AAJC. “The new LPGA policy along with their actions to have a special meeting with the South Korean players, smacks of clear discriminatory targeting of those players.”

“The game of golf has a long history of exclusion of minorities and women and they have fought for years to be included in sport,” added Duong. “That is why it is shocking that the LPGA would issue this policy, which is completely contrary to the spirit of inclusion that drives LPGA pioneer women to continue breaking new ground in their sport. This will ultimately result in depriving the audience and fans of seeing the best golfers in the world.”

CEO golf shirts confusion

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

There is another online retailer out there labeling every single product on their web site CEO golf shirts. Every item is listed in the search engines with CEO shirts or CEO golf shirts, even if the product is not a shirt! Hopefully this won’t cause any confusion and people won’t click through to their web site. I looked and there wasn’t anything I wanted to buy so I imagine you won’t either. They do not offer the high quality shirts for executives that we do, they just are advertising with the words of our web site.

I’m sure if you are an existing customer you’ll agree that our shirts are truly fitting for CEO’s. We don’t just say this, that’s who our customer base really is.

When you are searching for products or our site on the web, please realize our actual corporate name is CEOgolfshop.com. We have started some ads running CEO golf shop just so that people don’t end up at the wrong store by mistake.

Play hot, look sharp.

Christine

FINAL NOTE: Where will it all end in the world of SEO? Will companies write for their customers or will they continue trying to trick consumers into getting to their site all in the name of more eyeballs to improve web site traffic? Will Google ever find a way to stop nonsense like this?

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2. It appears the Google bots have booted the other site out of the top listing. Nothing to do with us! Looks like we’ll be back on top for one more day.

LPGA Tour to require English

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

The LPGA will require players to speak English starting in 2009, with players who have been LPGA members for two years facing suspension if they can’t pass an oral evaluation of English skills. The rule is effective immediately for new players.

Deputy commissioner Libba Galloway told The Associated Press, “There are more fans, more media and more sponsors. We want to help our athletes as best we can succeed off the golf course as well as on it.”

There are 121 international players from 26 countries on the LPGA Tour, about 20% of the total. The single largest group of foreigners are 45 players from South Korea.

We don’t know what the oral evaluation of English skills consists of, but I would bet it’s fair enough. The point is to get people speaking English so they can communicate with everyone. The rule simply assures that players will get started learning our language. If one in five LPGA golfers doesn’t speak english, the opportunities to grow the league are definitely hampered. Additionally, there is a cost associated with so many not speaking English just like there is in mainstream society.

Bottom line: It’s all good for the LPGA, for sponsors, and for fans. It’s a lot of work for the players, but if they are going to be in America, and role models for younger age groups, shouldn’t they have some proficiency of our language within 2 years? It may take a lot longer than that to really absorb it, but it’s a good start.

CEOgolfshop doubles online apparel and golf items

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Over the last 30 days, CEOgolfshop.com has nearly doubled the number of products offered in the online store. There are now nearly 200 different products with 1000’s of styles and colors available. Over 100,000 products are in stock at various warehouses we access. CEOgolfshop always sells the latest brand styles available, not clearance merchandise.

Due to the large number of SKU’s, fast changing inventories, and the different resources used to fulfill customer orders, CEOgolfshop is unable to maintain a live inventory for customers. This may occasionally inconvenience customers, but CEOgolfshop CEO Christine Speedy says “We fulfill a niche need for our customer base and our product depth exceeds any other resources our customers have tried. We may not be able to fulfill every color all the time, but we have so many options in fabrics and colors that we can nearly always find a suitable alternate.

The Bugatchi Apparel line has been expanded for both men and women. More photos have been added and inventory notations have been included for items in tight supply. CEOgolfshop focuses on customers who know what they want, and are seeking a reliable source to fulfill them.

Golf ball sales have doubled since updating the department this summer. Titleist and Nike Golf balls are the biggest sellers and CEOgolfshop expects incremental sales growth will continue with golf ball add-ons to apparel sales.

Bugatchi launches Men’s white fashion dress shirts

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

New for the 2008-09 Fall/Winter season, Bugatchi launched several white cotton fashion dress shirts, priced from $105. Each shirt has a different feel and a different fashion look. CEOgolfshop.com has selected three of them to sell in the online store. All are long sleeve and each has a different hand feel.

The Bugatchi long sleeve fashion dress shirt AS3223L44 has enough style you can look great without a jacket. The fabric has a 3-dimensional textured diamond pattern and is made with 99% cotton, 1% elastine, with a regular soft collar. The AS3221L42 100% cotton Bugatchi long sleeve shirt with spread collar uses stitching in a paisley pattern to create it’s design effect. The pattern appears white or shimmery (inverse) depending on how the light hits it. The Bugatchi fancy dress shirt AS3225L44 is made with 100% cotton. The fabric uses squares in a symmetrical fashion pattern that varies in appearance from grey to white with lighting. The fabric is somewhat shimmery and has a satin like feel. It has a hidden button down collar.

Bugatchi Uomo launches men’s Fall Knit shirts

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

New for the 2008-09 Fall/Winter season, Bugatchi launched a new knit made with 85% modal rayon and 15% polyester. The fabric is so soft and smooth it feel’s like heaven on earth.  The medium weight stretchy knit is  perfect for fall weather. I don’t know whether to call this a sweater or sweatshirt  or just a knit shirt. It’s lighter than a typical sweatshirt but heavier than your average shirt.

The Bugatchi knit is available in three styles including, long sleeve mock neck, long sleeve half zip with self collar, and short sleeve crew neck. For those who love the ribbed modal rayon shirt, I think this smooth fabric makes a nice addition to your Bugatchi collection, giving a little variety in fabric textures you wear.

Club Glove’s Carry-On Luggage Ensemble Makes Traveling a Breeze

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (August 21, 2008) - Over the past several months, most major airlines have begun charging for checked luggage which has caused many travelers to reevaluate their packing strategies. Savvy travelers are now trying to pack lighter and more efficiently. Club Glove, the Number One travel bag on all Tours, has come up with a solution with its Carry-On Luggage Ensemble.

Club Glove’s Carry-On Luggage Ensemble allows travelers to pack several days worth of clothing into its Carry-On or Piggy Back II bags. Airlines wish that all luggage manufacturers would size their carry-on bags the way Club Glove has. Both the Carry-On and Piggy Back II bags slip into the overhead compartments with ease and make those two to three day excursions a pleasure by eliminating additional charges and a long wait line at the baggage carousel.

The Club Glove Shoulder Bag II and Travel Kit complete your carry-on ensemble for what the company feels is the ultimate airline carry-on set. These additions allow one to have their toiletries and/or laptop at their fingertips while the Carry-On or Piggy Back II is nestled in the overhead compartment. The Shoulder Bag II attaches to the carry-on luggage piece with a J-hook (similar to what you see airline pilots doing) which allows for a balanced load that’s easy to roll through the airport.

“People are always surprised at how much they can fit into our carry-on pieces,” said Jeff Herold, President, West Coast Trends, Inc. “Our complete packing system including clothing organizers and travel kits makes it easy for travelers to pack lighter and more efficiently. With the cost of labor and fuel these days, if everyone does their part and packs more efficiently, it can only help our air travel system.”

When you purchase a piece of luggage from Club Glove, you can rest assured that you’re getting a piece of luggage built with a lifetime of use in mind. With over 15 fashionable colors and several custom webbing options to choose from, we’ve got a color to fit your personality.

All Club Glove travel bags and luggage are manufactured in the U.S.A. and constructed from Invista Cordura®. Invista Cordura is actually three times stronger than similar nylon fabrics in the market. Though considerably more expensive, it has been a key ingredient to the durability and success of the company’s products.

Other best-in-their-class features include YKK® zippers, ITW Nexus® buckles, and single piece burst proof construction. Several pieces feature a patented high-impact plastic wheel base that cradles and shields the bottom of the bag. In-line skate wheels with bearings make it incredibly easy to roll the bags wherever you need to go.

The Club Glove luggage line is available in clay, red, pink champagne, burgundy, navy, royal, steel blue, green, khaki, moss green, camouflage, sun gold, mocha, mocha with pink, black, black with copper trim, and charcoal with webbing options in black, copper, sun gold, pink champagne or red. The webbing is custom-made to order with a slight charge and a reasonable lead time.
