Fathers Day, Golf Memories, and Chick-fil-A

What’s the best father’s day gift you ever received or gave? Does it involve time, food, or physical item?

For as long as I can remember my father’s private country club has held a father son golf outing. I have three brothers so they always had the perfect foursome to create special memories. Being the only daughter, my Dad always made time for me later too, and we’ve had many golf outings of our own the last decade or so, especially since I picked up the game with vigor later in life.

I’ll never forget the time I first played golf with Dad when he was a member at Naples National, in Naples Florida. I managed a par 3 on a hole so challenging par 3, he told me the club pro recently shot a 9! For weeks Dad raved to everyone he saw that I parred that hole. Making others feel good about themselves is an inherent part of his character.

For Father’s Day, physical gifts are appreciated, but so are a hug, helping hands, words of thanks, a memorable story, or a shared laugh. This year since I can’t be with him,  I’m sending my father this picture of me with the Chick-fil-A cow. My father gets such a kick out of the EAT MOR CHIKIN ads that I know he’ll have a great big smile.christine speedy with chick fil a cow

If you’re looking for a Father’s Day gift you can wrap, here’s 3 ideas:

  1. Windbrella– the best for golf is the 62 inch auto open. Any in this brand is special.
  2. Putter with custom golf grip. If your father is as patriotic as mine, I recommend the USA stars & stripes grip.
  3. Bugatchi shirts– nothing makes a father feel better than a soft, comfortable shirt that looks great too.
